The moment of truth arrives: The Staging. Meet the Catwalk Jury of the Fígaro Awards 2023!

Each year, the Catwalk Award has its own jury, made up of leading figures from the world of fashion and the media, who assess the live presentation of the finalist collections.

The Catwalk Award is one of the most special awards at each edition of the Figaro Awards, for several reasons: firstly, all the finalists compete for it and the decision is made 'in situ'; secondly, the overall staging of the collections is valued. It means, the way they are brought to life (make-up, costumes, music, choreography...); and finally, it has its own jury, made up of prominent personalities from the fields of fashion and the media.

In this 14th edition of the Fígaro Awards, we are honored to count on:

Jesús María Montes - Fernández: journalist specialising in fashion. He is the director of the only two fashion programmes on national television: "Flash Moda" and "Flash Moda Monográficos". He studied journalism in Pamplona and worked in the written press until 1991, when he made the leap to television, a medium he has never abandoned. In 1994 he founded the programme "Corazón, Corazón" on TVE, together with Cristina García Ramos. He is a regular contributor to the media and one of Spain's leading fashion experts; he has also curated four major fashion exhibitions, has numerous published works and also teaches.

Xavi García & Franx de Cristal: founders of the fashion brands 44STUDIO, and recently, ACROMATYX. In their career, they have developed creative direction in different disciplines such as hairdressing - turning SALON44 into an international benchmark -, styling, performance, as well as design and experience in avant-garde brands with their 44STORE project. Their firm commitment to Spanish fashion has led them to present ten collections in different formats at MBFWMADRID and they have also been present at Paris and London Fashion Week. Among his followers and clients are figures such as Laura Ponte, Paco Leon, Aitana, Roisin Murphy, Nathy Peluso, Arca, etc.

Margarita Velasco: beauty editor at Vanitatis, the magazine of El Confidencial. She started in beauty journalism 10 years ago, motivated by her passion for this sector, and over the years she has been growing in the sector. She has worked in different digital media: enfemenino, Marie Claire and now Vanitatis, where she has been working for five years. On a daily basis, she spends her time researching, looking for international trends on social networks and backstage. She admits that she is also passionate about the world of hair, from haircuts and colouring to styling, discovering new tools and delving into hair treatments.

The Fígaro Awards gala will be held on Monday 6th November, hosted by our main sponsor Revlon Professional, our official partner Salón Look IFEMA MADRID and the firm The Hair MBA as a collaborator.

The Club

The objective pursued by Club FÍGARO is recognition, both professionally and socially; thus raising our profession to the category of excellence, just as sectors such as fashion or gastronomy did at the time. Our mission is aimed at making our work known, admired and respected, both in the national and international territory, thus consolidating an increasingly cosmopolitan and powerful industry.

The Contest

The Spanish Hairdressing Awards, also called Fígaro Awards, value the photographic works of the hairdressing creations of the participating firms, to reward the most outstanding creative hairdressers in the country. They consist of five categories and were established in 2009 to give notoriety and visibility to the artistic work of Spanish hairdressers. The basic objective pursued by Club Fígaro with the creation of these awards is the social and professional recognition of hairdressing in Spain to consolidate an industry that is increasingly cosmopolitan and powerful.

Participating hairdressers register online to participate and upload their photographic collections to the Club Fígaro website. Afterward, the professional jury, made up of prominent personalities from national and international hairdressing and which changes every year, individually and independently votes the collections submitted anonymously, so impartiality is guaranteed.

Club Fígaro has the support of its main sponsor Revlon Professional, Salón Look IFEMA MADRID, a leading trade fair event, as an official partner and The Hair MBA, as a collaborator. Finally, Club Fígaro has the support of the main professional beauty magazines and portals in Spain.
