The Spanish Hairdressing Awards gala was held on the evening of Monday 6th November, with novelties, a spectacular staging and emotions running high.
The 14th edition of the Fígaro Awards, organised by Club Fígaro, and with Revlon Professional as the main sponsor, once again brought together the most creative hairdressing professionals in the country, in what is undoubtedly the great annual event of the industry in Spain, as well as one of the international benchmarks.
The gala was held on 6 November at Salón Look IFEMA MADRID, the official partner of the awards, and The Hair MBA was also a partner. The acclaimed event once again set the bar high, thanks to the outstanding talent, technical excellence and boundless creativity of the participants.
The big novelty this year was the debut of the 'Spanish Student of the Year' category, which aims to highlight the work of Spanish training centres and the efforts they make to prepare future hairdressing talents.

The Gala
The Gala began with a heartfelt tribute to two key figures of Spanish hairdressing, who have left us this year: Gonzalo Zarauza and Lluís Llongueras. Two great people, teachers and friends who will forever be part of the history of Club Fígaro.
Next, Felicitas Ordás, president of Club Fígaro, took the stage together with the three finalists of the recently launched category 'Spanish Student of the Year': "The best way to pay tribute to them - to Gonzalo and Lluís - is to be accompanied by the new generations", she said. He added that this first edition of the category "has been a great success, both in terms of the number of participants and the quality of the work. We want to recognise the great value of the public and private hairdressing centres in our country in the teaching and development of their students".
After the presentation of the collections on the iconic Fígaro Catwalk, Sergi Bancells, international ambassador of Club Fígaro and host of the awards, began the awards ceremony, but not before reminding those present of the great moment that Spanish hairdressing is experiencing, with numerous professionals conquering the main competitions around the world: "We have a creative hairdressing followed and admired all over the world; the Fígaro platform, with which many of you have grown up and which has allowed you to reach the next level, and which are the envy of the world because they are unequalled."

Our mission is aimed at making our work known, admired and respected, both in the national and international territory, thus consolidating an increasingly cosmopolitan and powerful industry.
The Contest
The Spanish Hairdressing Awards, also called Fígaro Awards, value the photographic works of the hairdressing creations of the participating firms, to reward the most outstanding creative hairdressers in the country. They consist of five categories and were established in 2009 to give notoriety and visibility to the artistic work of Spanish hairdressers. The basic objective pursued by Club Fígaro with the creation of these awards is the social and professional recognition of hairdressing in Spain to consolidate an industry that is increasingly cosmopolitan and powerful.
Participating hairdressers register online to participate and upload their photographic collections to the Club Fígaro website. Afterward, the professional jury, made up of prominent personalities from national and international hairdressing and which changes every year, individually and independently votes the collections submitted anonymously, so impartiality is guaranteed.
